We perform at the Franckesche Stiftungen in Halle

History

The Hallensia Quartet was formed in 1995 by young members of the former State Philharmonic Orchestra Halle, now Staatskapelle Halle. The members realised that Halle and the surrounding area is a place where chamber music can flourish. There are regular concerts in the Händel-Haus Halle and in central German regions such as Naumburg, Weißenfels and Bitterfeld. Concerts also have been given in Stuttgart, the Isle of Rügen as well as in Halle's sister cities Karlsruhe, Oulu (Finland) and Linz (Austria).

What makes us different?

Our aim is to challenge the unknown and unusual without losing our solid background as a classical string quartet.

From Händel to Tango

we play unusual programmes in our varied repertoire which caters to the taste of a wider audience. With concert programmes such as "Nordic Impressions", "Humour in Music", "Saxony-Anhalt", "Paris 1893 - New York 1893" or "From Händel to Tango" we offer cultural entertainment of the highest standard.

Our name Hallensia Quartet

is a synonym for bringing local composers to our listeners. This has already been achieved by recording all four string quartets composed by Carl Loewe and by performing compositions from composers such as Karl Friedrich Abel, Johann Friedrich Reichardt, August Klughardt, Gerd Domhardt, and Gerhardt Wohlgemuth who all lived in Saxony-Anhalt.
